Rowing Concludes Day One of Scrimmage

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s rowing team scrimmaged against Indiana on the Iowa River on Friday evening. It was the first set of a two-day scrimmage against the two schools.

In the first wave, Iowa’s 1V8+ boat took first place 18 seconds in front of the Hoosiers. In the 2V8+ action, Iowa took first place 13 seconds in front of Indiana. The wave concluded with Indiana winning the V4+. Iowa’s first boat came in 11 seconds behind the Hoosiers, and the second boat followed 48 seconds later.

In the second wave, Indiana’s 1V8+ boat took first place, topping Iowa by 31 seconds. Indiana’s 2V8+ boat also came in first, beating Iowa by 14 seconds.

The evening concluded with the V4+, as Indiana came in first in front of two Iowa boats. The first Iowa boat came in 16 seconds behind, and the third Iowa boat came in 1:16 later.

The scrimmage will concluded tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at the P. Sue Beckwith Boathouse.
