Iowa Gets No. 2 Michigan in B1G Quarterfinals

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa soccer team tied for fifth in the Big Ten Conference regular season standings to advance to its third-straight Big Ten Tournament. The seventh-seeded Hawkeyes will face No. 2 seed Michigan on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. (CT) in Champaign, Ill.

The Wolverines won the regular season matchup between the two schools, defeating Iowa, 2-1, on Sept. 22 in Iowa City. The winner of the 2013 Big Ten Tournament will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship.

Nebraska earned the No. 1 seed after finishing its conference slate with a 10-1-0 record. The Cornhuskers will face No. 8 Minnesota. Penn State, the third seed, will face No. 6 Wisconsin in the opening game, while No. 4 seed Indiana will face No. 5 seed and host Illinois.

The Hawkeyes finished the 2013 season with a 2-0 victory over Purdue to finish with a 13-5-1 overall and a 5-5-1 Big Ten record. The 13 victories are tied for the most in a single season in school history.

All matches will be held at Illinois Soccer Stadium. All four quarterfinal games will be streamed live on the Big Ten Digital Network, while the semifinals and final will be televised on the BTN.
