Iowa (6-4, 3-3) defeated Purdue (1-8, 0-5) today, 38-14, inside Ross-Ade Stadium. The win was Iowa’s sixth of the season. Iowa is now bowl eligible for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons. The win was No. 300 all-time in conference play. The Hawkeyes have an all-time Big Ten mark of 300-362-25 (.455).

Today marks the first time Iowa notched wins on consecutive trips to Purdue since 1989 (24-0) and 1991 (31-21).

Iowa has three road wins this season, its highest total since 2009 (4).

The 38 points are the most scored by an Iowa team at Purdue since a 40-3 win in 1984. The 38 points are the second-highest point total scored by the Hawkeyes this season (59 vs. Missouri State).

Iowa posted season highs today in first downs (28); total yards (509); and rushing yards (318). Iowa’s 318 yards rushing are the most by the Hawkeyes since amassing 365 yards on 56 carries in a 45-21 win at Minnesota on Nov. 16, 2002.

Iowa’s 28 first downs tie for the fourth-most by a team during the Kirk Ferentz era.

RB Damon Bullock rushed 10 times for a season-high 85 yards. He is 12 yards away from 1,000 career rushing yards.

Iowa held Purdue scoreless in the first quarter. The Hawkeyes have held 8-of-10 opponent scoreless in the first quarter this season. Nine straight opponents failed to reach the end zone in the first period.

Iowa led at the half, 14-7. The Hawkeyes have held a halftime lead in 9-of-10 games. Iowa is 6-3 in those contests.

Iowa outscored Purdue 24-7 in the second half. The 24 second-half points is Iowa’s highest total this season in conference play.

Iowa rushed 52 times for 318 yards. Today marked the sixth time this year Iowa rushed for more than 200 yards. The Hawkeyes are 5-1 in those games.

Iowa’s second-quarter touchdown drive was its longest drive of the season in terms of yards (90 yards, 9 plays, 4:15).

QB Jake Rudock’s 22-yard touchdown pass to WR Kevonte Martin-Manley was his 13th touchdown pass of the season, and the eighth of 20-plus yards. Rudock finished the game completing 12-20 passes for 191 yards.

Rudock has three games this season with 2+ TD passes and 0 INT, tied with Braxton Miller for the most such games in the Big Ten.

QB C.J. Beathard relieved QB Jake Rudock in the fourth quarter, and scored a touchdown on a 5-yard rush. The touchdown was the first of his career.

WR Don Shupert caught two balls for a career-best 69 yards today. His previous single-game high for receiving yards was 35 yards

RB Jordan Canzeri rushed for a career-high 165 yards. Canzeri averaged 8.25 yards on 20 carries and scored one touchdown. Canzeri entered today’s game with 173 rushing yards this season.

OL Cole Croston made his Hawkeye debut today. Croston was on the offensive line on K Mike Meyer’s 28-yard field goal.

K Mike Meyer was perfect on five extra point attempts today. He has made a school-record 112 consecutive PAT attempts, which is the fourth-longest active streak in the nation and ranks fourth-best all-time in the Big Ten.

Iowa and Purdue each lost a turnover today. Iowa’s lost fumble was its first in conference play this season. The Hawkeyes are 0-4 when losing the turnover margin, 5-0 when winning the turnover margin, and 1-0 when splitting turnover margin. The Hawkeyes are plus-1 overall this season.

TE C.J. Fiedorowicz caught two passes today to extend his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 28. Fiedorowicz has 79 catches for 356 yards over the last 28 games, and has caught all eight career touchdowns during the streak.

LB Anthony Hitchens caused a fumble recovered by LB Christian Kirksey, leading to Iowa’s third touchdown. Iowa’s linebacker trio has accounted for seven turnovers this season. LB James Morris has three interceptions and one fumble recovery, while Kirksey has an interception and two fumble recoveries. Hitchens has two forced fumbles.

Iowa’s defense collected nine tackles for loss, including two sacks. Drew Ott with a career-high 2.5 TFLs, while Mike Hardy tied a personal-best with two TFLs.

Instant replay was not used today.

Purdue won the toss and elected to defer to the second half. In 2013, the Hawkeyes are 2-3 when starting the game on offense — Northern Illinois (L, 30-27), at Minnesota (W, 23-7), Michigan State (L, 26-14) at Ohio State (L, 34-24), and at Purdue (W, 38-14). Iowa has started the game on offense in 149-of-184 games under Kirk Ferentz, including four times this season.

Iowa has the second of its two bye weeks next week. The Hawkeyes host Michigan Nov. 23 inside Kinnick Stadium.
