Women's Golf Signs Suarez

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Elisa Suarez has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa next fall, UI head coach Megan Menzel announced Friday.

“We are very excited to welcome Elisa to our program,” said Menzel. “Elisa is the 20th-ranked player in Spain and has won three times this year. She will be a tremendous asset to our team. Elisa is a very strong student and we are happy that Iowa was a solid fit for her academically and athletically.”

Suarez competed in 11 tournaments, including 28 rounds in 2013, posting a 76.7 stroke average. She recorded three first place finishes (Sabadell Tournament, El Comercio Tournament, and Carmin Cup) and finished among the top-10 in three other tournaments. Suarez was rated No. 20 in the 2013 Spanish rankings for players under the age of 18. Suarez attends Santa Teresa located in Oviedo, Asturias in Spain.
