April 9, 2014

Weekly Release

THIS WEEK
The Hawkeyes travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to match up against Purdue and Kent State on Saturday at the Boilermakers’ Kampen Course. The teams will play 36 holes beginning at 8 a.m. (CT).

ABOUT THE COURSE
The Kampen Course, a Pete Dye design, is an 18-hole, links-style, par-72 championship golf course featuring large bent-grass greens, fairways and tees. The layout presents a challenge for golfers of all abilities with vast sand bunkers, native grasslands, ponds and a natural celery bog. Kampen is rated one of the top collegiate courses in the nation and has been awarded 4.5 stars on Golf Digest’s “Places to Play.”

HAWKEYE LINE-UP
Karly Grouwinkel, Allison Lindley, Jessie Sindlinger, Amy Ihm, Nicole Rae, and Anna DePalma will be competing for the Hawkeyes on Saturday.

LINDLEY LEADS HAWKEYES
Allison Lindley was the Hawkeyes’ top finisher at the Dallas Athletic Club Invitational on April 4-6. The freshman fired a 76 (+4) and a 75 (+3) in the first and second rounds, respectively. Due to lightning in the Dallas area, the tournament was called after 36 holes. Lindley’s score of 151 (+7) marked a new career best and tied her for 16th place on the leaderboard.

HAWKEYES SET SCHOOL RECORD
The Hawkeyes fired an 877 (+13) to establish a new 54-hole school record at the Westbrook Invitational on Feb. 23-24. The previous record was set at the Westbrook Invitational in 2012 when the team shot an 879. The Hawkeyes’ 36-hole score of 585 is good for third overall in Iowa history, and their 18-hole score of 291 ties for fifth.

STRONG START FOR PHILLIPS
Junior Shelby Phillips paced the Hawkeyes at the Westbrook Invitational. The Arizona native carded a three-round total of 216 to tie for 14th place and mark her third top-20 finish of the year. Phillips’ score also ranks third among Iowa’s all-time best 36-hole performances.

RETURN TO ACTION
Iowa returns to action at the Lady Buckeye Invitational on April 19-20. The 54-hole tournament will be hosted by Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.
