ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Seven Hawkeye student-athletes — redshirt senior Matt McGrath, redshirt junior Lance Alberhasky, junior Mitchell Landau, sophomores Jack Boyle, Matt Loochtan and Doug Sullivan, and freshman Cory Paterson — qualified individually for event finals at the NCAA Championships, Friday at 6 p.m. (CT) at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Although Iowa did not qualify for the team and all-around finals on Friday, the top three all-around and individual event competitors not on one of the qualifying teams advanced from each pre-qualifying session to finals.
Boyle will compete for the all-around title after placing fifth in session one on Thursday. Loochtan will compete for titles on floor and rings as he tied for second and placed seventh in each event. McGrath will also contend for the floor title after tying for 12th. Sullivan advances on pommel horse as he tied for fourth, Alberhasky will compete on parallel bars as he tied for 12th, and Landau and Paterson will each compete on high bar as they tied for ninth and 12th, respectively.
