WINNEPEG, Manitoba — University of Iowa men’s golfer Brian Bullington finished in a tie for 13th place on Thursday at the Canadian Amateur Championships, carding a four-round score of 281 (66, 71, 69, 75; -1). Bullington birdied eight holes in his first round, and added five more in his three subsequent rounds. The tournament was held at Elmhurst Golf and Country Club.
The senior from Frankfort, Illinois, earned second-team All-Big Ten and PING All-Region honors in his 2014 campaign, posting his career-best finish at the Arizona State Thunderbird Classic where he tied for third with a 206 (-7). Following his performance, he was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the first time in his career. He tied for fourth place at the 2014 Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Classic, carding a 215 (-1). Bullington tied for the second-most top-10 finishes on the team (2), and held the second-best scoring average (73.14) of all Hawkeye golfers.
Fellow senior Ian Vandersee of West Des Moines, Iowa, tied for seventh place at the Iowa Amateur on July 27, carding a three-round score of 218 (76, 71, 71; +2).
The Hawkeyes kick off their 2014-15 season on Sept. 14-16 at the Annual Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa.
