Junior Voramate Aussarassakorn and senior Ian Vandersee propelled the Hawkeyes on the first day of action. Aussarassakorn finished tied for 11th place on the individual leaderboard after shooting a season best three-under-par 69, just one stroke shy of matching his career best 18-hole score. Vandersee also carded a season best, firing a 70 (-2) to tie for 17th place. Aussarassakorn and Vandersee led the team and were second in the field with six birdies apiece.

“Voramate has been playing with a lot of confidence this week,” said Iowa head coach Tyler Stith. “He continues to improve and learn with each competitive round.”

Sophomores Carson Schaake and Raymond Knoll carded rounds of 73 (+1), and are currently tied for 49th individually. Knoll, a Naperville, Illinois, native, led the team with 12 pars.

Senior Brian Bullington posted a 76 (+4) on Friday, and is currently tied for 77th place individually.

“Everyone is playing well and making good decisions on the course,” said Stith. “This is a golf course that will yield birdies. We just need to play our strengths and remain patient.”

Due to impending inclement weather expected for Sunday’s forecast, the Hawkeyes will play 36 holes Saturday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. (CT). Live stats are available at golfstat.com.
