GREENVILLE, South Carolina — The University of Iowa women’s tennis duo of Carin Runefelt and Aimee Tarun won a pair of matches Friday afternoon at the Furman Fall Classic in Greenville, South Carolina. Runefelt was one of four Hawkeyes to make her Iowa debut. Natalie Looney was teamed with Anastasia Reimchen to win her Hawkeye debut over Alabama’s Savva/Greene. Overall, the Hawkeyes went 3-10 against a doubles tournament field that included six nationally ranked teams.

Due to weather, the tournament was moved indoors, and singles were postponed until tomorrow.

“We were forced inside on four courts today due to weather and played three rounds of doubles. A lot of positives to take away today, we played a number of tight matches against very good teams, some swung our way, some didn’t,” said UI head coach Katie Dougherty. “The team competed very well and implemented many of the things we’ve been working on the past couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to seeing how we come out tomorrow in singles. Hopefully the weather will hold for us and we’ll be able to get in two rounds.”
