Knoll Qualifies for Match Play at U.S. Amateur

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. — University of Iowa golfer Raymond Knoll has qualified for match play at the 2016 U.S. Amateur at the Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The senior tied for 41st in stroke play on Tuesday with a 36-hole total of 141 (+1) to move on to the round of 64.
 
In a field of over 300 of the world’s best amateur golfers, Knoll used four birdies en route to an even-par 70 in round one on Monday. Five more birdies on Tuesday –three of which came on the back nine — guided him to a one-over-par 71 and a spot in Wednesday’s round of 64.
 
Knoll, a native of Naperville, Illinois, begins match play at 8:40 a.m. (CT) today when he tees off against English amateur golfer Scott Gregory. Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the event from 2-5 p.m. (CT). Live scoring is available at usga.org.
