IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team released its 2016-17 regular season schedule, announced by the UI Athletic Department on Oct. 11. The schedule features three home meets and a matchup against the two time defending national champion, Oklahoma.
“We will host three prominent meets in Iowa City, including UIC, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, where were are excited to showcase our Carver Hawkeye upgrades to both our fans and visiting teams,” said head coach JD Reive.
“From several B1G rivalry matchups to last year’s NCCA Champions coming to Iowa City and the addition of the University of California – Berkeley, our team is looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead.”
The Hawkeyes start off the season with the annual Black and Gold Intrasquad meet on Dec. 2, before heading to Chicago for the Windy City Invitational. The team comes back to Iowa City for its first home meet of the season against Illinois on Jan. 22. Three weeks later the team heads to Berkeley for a matchup against the Bears on Feb. 6. That same week Iowa will host Oklahoma and Minnesota in a tri-meet on Feb. 10.
The Hawkeyes go on the road the next four weeks. They head to the Winter Cup Challenge on Feb. 16-18, and then follow with meets at Illinois on Feb. 25, Nebraska on March 4, and Minnesota on March 11. The team will host their final home meet on March 20 against Nebraska. The last regular meet of the season will be on March 25 at Penn State.
The Big Ten Championship is set for April 7-8 at Illinois followed by the NCAA Championship on April 21-22 at West Point.
