THIS WEEK FOR THE HAWKEYES
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team will face Western Michigan at Noon (CT) and Marquette at 5 p.m. (CT) in a doubleheader on Saturday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

QUOTING @SashaSchmid
“We have another great opportunity to compete this Saturday against two good teams. To prepare for Saturday, we need to get back to focused, intentional work at practice every day this week.”

HAWKEYES WIN DOUBLEHEADER
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team defeated Iowa State, 5-0, and Montana, 7-0, at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex on Sunday. The victories mark the fourth straight time the Hawkeyes have blanked their opponents.

TAKING ON THE BRONCOS
The Broncos have started the season, 5-2. They picked up a pair of wins last weekend when they defeated Cleveland State (5-2), and blanked the University of Illinois-Chicago, 7-0. This weekend will be the first match between the schools.

TAKING ON THE GOLDEN EAGLES
The Golden Eagles have a 2-1 record. They suffered their first loss of the season last weekend as they fell to Wisconsin, 4-3. The Hawkeyes lead the overall series, 17-2. The last time Iowa faced Marquette was last season. The Hawkeyes defeated the Golden Eagles, 6-1.

DOUGLAS LEADING THE WAY
Junior Zoe Douglas is yet to lose a match this season, posting a 5-0 singles record and a 4-0 doubles recorded. Douglas has recorded four of her singles victories at the No. 2 position and one at the No. 1 position. All four of her doubles victories have come at the No. 1 position.

MAINTAINING WINNING RECORDS
In addition to Douglas, sophomore Kristen Thoms has also started the 2017 season with a 5-0 singles record and a 4-0 doubles record. Anastasia Reimchen has a 4-0 singles record and Elise van Heuvelen, Aimee Tarun, and Montana Crawford all have 3-0 singles records to start the 2017 season.

UNDEFEATED STARTS
The Hawkeyes have started the 2017 season with a 5-0 record, which makes three straight seasons where the Hawkeyes have started 4-0 or better. In each of the last two seasons Oregon has given Iowa its first loss of the season. The last time the Hawkeyes started 7-0 was in 2008. They started the 2008 season with an 8-0 record.

DEADLY DOUBLES WITH DOUGLAS
University of Iowa junior Zoe Douglas has been the common denominator on Iowa’s top doubles team. She opened the 2017 season with three consecutive doubles victories with freshman Elise van Heuvelen at the No. 1 doubles position, and recorded one victory with senior Natalie Looney. Douglas and junior Anastasia Reimchen were 7-5 last season and reached as high as No. 49 in the country. Their biggest win of the season was a 6-2 victory over Ohio State’s third-ranked Miho Kawase and Anna Sanford. Douglas and Reimchen opened the fall season ranked No. 45, but they did not see court time together. Instead, Douglas put together an 11-5 record with van Heuvelen. Douglas has a 43-29 career record in doubles.
