Heffner Places 14th Off 3-Meter at NCAA Zones

COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Iowa senior Brandis Heffner qualified for the finals on 3-meter springboard Tuesday at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
 
Heffner, a native of Bloomington, Illinois, was 15th after prelims with 329.35 points.  He followed it up with a 343.40 in the finals to finish with 672.75 points to tally a 14th place finish.
 
Sophomore Matt Mauser also competed off the 3-meter, finishing 21st with 299.70 points.
 
Four women’s divers competed off the 1-meter.  Freshman Thelma Strandberg placed 19th with 259.65 points — one spot shy of moving on to the finals.  Junior Morgan Rafferty was 22nd with 255.90 points, sophomore Jacintha Thomas was 26th with 253.00 points, and senior Calli Head was 40th with 224.55 points.
 
The Hawkeyes close out the championships Wednesday, competing off the platform.
