Head, Strandberg Qualify for NCAA Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Two University of Iowa divers — senior Calli Head and freshman Thelma Strandberg — qualified for the NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships off the platform Wednesday at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
 
Head qualified for her third straight NCAA Championships after placing 10th with 484.30 points.  The Wisconsin native was 14th in prelims with a score of 219.70 points before moving her way up the leaderboard.  Head finished with 264.60 points in the finals to garner the 10th-place finish.
 
Strandberg qualified for her first NCAA Championships, finishing with a score of 476.25 points.  The Norway native was posted a score of 242.30 points in prelims to sit in ninth place in the standings.  In the finals she accumulated 233.95 points to place 11th.
 
The duo join senior Emma Sougstad as Hawkeye qualifiers at the NCAA Championships from March 15-18 in Indianapolis.  Sougstad will compete in the 100-yard breaststroke.
