IOWA CITY, Iowa – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Associated (USTFCCCA) announced Friday that eight University of Iowa student-athletes – freshman Talia Buss, senior Heaven Chandler, sophomore Chris Douglas, junior Marta Bote Gonzalez, freshman Austin Lietz, junior Carter Lilly, sophomore Andrea Shine, and senior Brendan Thompson have been named to the 2017 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team.
To become eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have finished in the top 96 in an individual event during the indoor season or qualify for the NCAA Championships during the outdoor season and carry a minimum 3.25 grade point average (GPA).
In addition, the University of Iowa women’s track & field team was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, maintaining a GPA of 3.198.
To qualify as a team, the program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA and finish highly at the National meet.
