IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa swimming and diving team notched four individual Big Ten Conference weekly honors, the league office announced Wednesday.
Junior Jacintha Thomas was named women’s Big Ten Diver of the week, while sophomore Joe Myhre was tabbed as the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week. Freshman Anton Hoherz received both the Big Ten Diver of the Week and Freshman of the Week.
Thomas earned the weekly recognition following a 1-meter win with a career-best score of 307.60 — the seventh-best score in school history in Iowa dual victories against Michigan State and Northern Iowa. This is Thomas’ second career Big Ten recognition.
Hoherz dove to a pair of victories, posting NCAA Zone standards off the 1-meter (340.50) and 3-meter (374.90) in Iowa’s Big Ten dual win over Michigan State. The 3-meter score ranks fourth in school history, while 1-meter is seventh.
Myhre received the nod for Big Ten Swimmer of the Week following two individual and two relay victories against Michigan State. The St. Charles, Illinois, native won the 100 (44.82) and 200 free (1:40.04), while also being part of the winning 200-medley and 400-free relays.
The Hawkeyes return to action Oct. 27, hosting Minnesota at 5 p.m. (CT) at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium. Iowa will hold Senior Day festivities prior to the dual.
