Mathews Leads Hawkeyes at Minnesota Diving Invite

MINNEAPOLIS — Freshman Jayah Mathews led the University of Iowa diving team on day one of the Minnesota Diving Invitational in Minneapolis on Thursday. 
 
34535Mathews finished second to Minnesota’s Sarah Bacon off the 1-meter with a score of 282.80. Sophomore Thelma Strandberg and senior Morgan Rafferty finished seventh and eighth with scores of 244.90 and 241.00, respectively.
 
Freshman Anton Hoherz led the Hawkeyes on the men’s side with a score of 364.00 off the 3-meter to finish fourth. Ohio State’s Christopher Law’s score of 395.60 finished first on day one. 
 
The Minnesota Diving Invitational continues tomorrow. The Hawkeye men will compete in the 1-meter finals, while the women compete off the 3-meter beginning at 5 p.m. (CT).
