IOWA CITY, Iowa – After former University Iowa defensive end Adrian Clayborn’s record-setting six sack game against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday, here is a look at how other former Hawkeyes are performing in the NFL.
Adrian Clayborn, DE
Atlanta Falcons (7 yrs.)
Defensive end Adrian Clayborn vaulted himself into the top-10 in the NFL in sacks with eight after his six sack performance against the Dallas Cowboys. In addition to his franchise record, Clayborn forced two fumbles and recovered one en route to a 27-7 victory over the Cowboys.
In his career with the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Clayborn has amassed 28.5 sacks, 162 tackles and seven forced fumbles.
C.J. Beathard, QB
San Francisco 49ers (R)
Quarterback C.J. Beathard recorded his first NFL win last weekend against the New York Giants. Beathard went 19-for-25 while throwing for two touchdowns and running for one. His scoring strikes covered 83 yards and 47 yards. He finished the day with a quarterback rating of 123.4 as the 49ers prevailed 31-21. According to ESPN, Beathard ranked second in the NFL with a total quarterback rating of 87.3.
Christian Kirksey, LB
Cleveland Browns (4 yrs.)
Outside linebacker Christian Kirksey is in his fourth year in the NFL, all with the Cleveland Browns. He is ranked second on the team with 74 tackles, including six tackles for loss. During last weekend’s game against the Detroit Lions, Kirksey recorded a team-high seven tackles and a sack. Kirksey has led the team in tackles in three games this season.
In his career, Kirksey has tallied 366 tackles, 10.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
Micah Hyde, DB
Buffalo Bills (5 yrs.)
Former Hawkeye Micah Hyde is in the midst of his fifth season as an NFL safety. After spending four seasons with the Green Bay Packers he is in his first season with the Buffalo Bills. Starting every game in the 2017 regular season for the Bills so far, Hyde has amassed 36 total tackles, bringing his career total to 220. Hyde has registered five interceptions this season against four teams – Atlanta (2), Oakland (1), Cincinnati (1), and the New York Jets (1). Hyde ranks second in the NFL in interceptions.
In his career, Hyde has four sacks, 13 interceptions, and one forced fumble.
Mike Daniels, DL
Green Bay Packers (6 yrs.)
Mike Daniels accounted for five of Green Bay’s 52 total tackles in its 23-16 win over Chicago this past Sunday, including a sack. In the middle of his sixth season as an NFL defensive tackle, Daniels has spent every season with the Packers since being drafted in the fourth round in 2012. He has played seven games in 2017, with 17 total tackles and 2.5 sacks.
In his career, Daniels has 127 total tackles, 24.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
