THIS WEEK FOR THE HAWKEYES
The University of Iowa women’s tennis team hosts Marquette and Bradley on Sunday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. The Hawkeyes play Marquette at 10 a.m. (CT) and Bradley at 2 p.m.

“We are all happy to be home this weekend after a lot of traveling. The team has been focused in practices this week, and we are ready to play well to get momentum into this final stretch of non-conference matches.”

HAWKEYES AT HOME
The Iowa women’s tennis team is currently 2-0 at home. They defeated Creighton, 6-1, and Northern Iowa, 7-0. Last season the Hawkeyes began 7-0 and finished 10-3 when playing at home.

TAKING ON THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Sunday’s match is the 21st meeting between Iowa and Marquette (1-4). Iowa leads the all-time series, 18-2. The Hawkeyes won the last meeting in 2017, 5-2.  

TAKING ON THE BRAVES
Sunday’s match is the second meeting between Iowa and Bradley (3-5). Iowa leads the all-time series, 1-0. The first and last meeting was in 2016, and was dominated by the Hawkeyes, 7-0.

BIG TEN MATCHUPS APPROACHING 
Iowa is just three weeks shy of Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes’ first three matches are within four days of each other. On Wednesday, March 14 they head to University Park, Pennsylvania, and then return home to host Michigan and Michigan State that weekend. 

LONG STAYS UNDEFEATED
Long has extended her win streak in singles, posting a 7-0 overall record. Long has two straight-set victories over ranked opponents. She defeated No. 109 Tiffany Mylonas from Washington State, 6-4, 6-1, and No. 92 Mia Rabinowitz from Illinois, 6-3, 6-3. 

CLINIC HOSTED BETWEEN MATCHES
The Iowa women’s tennis team is hosting a USTA League Clinic in between the doubleheader. It is for USTA members only. You can sign up at the HTRC or RSVP to Aaron Howard (aaron-howard@hawkeyesports.com or 319-335-9431) by Feb 23.
