IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa Athletics Department announced Wednesday that the women’s tennis program has been selected to host the ITA Central Regional Championships Oct. 12-16 at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
The singles and doubles tournament will be contested on eight indoor and 12 outdoor courts at the HTRC. Nineteen schools and more than 100 student-athletes from the Central Region are expected to attend.
The ITA Regional Championships is one of two tournaments on the Hawkeyes’ fall schedule. Iowa travels to Las Vegas to compete at the UNLV Invite on Nov. 9.
The Hawkeyes open their spring championships season Friday, Jan. 18, hosting Xavier at the HTRC. It is the first of nine matches Iowa plays at home this spring. The schedule includes six dates against Big Ten opponents. All home events, including the ITA Central Regional, are free to the public.
Iowa’s regular season wraps April 21 at Minnesota. Postseason play begins April 25 at the Big Ten Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska.
