SOUTH BEND, Indiana — Four Hawkeyes — Jason Kerst, Morgan Lohan, Oliver Okonkwo, and Nikita Snezhko — all won singles matches in their first action of the fall on Friday at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational at the Eck Tennis Pavillion on the campus of Notre Dame University.
Lohan, a sophomore transfer from N.C. State, defeated Marquette’s Greg Anderson in a third set tiebreaker, 6-1, 6-7(5), 10-4. Freshmen Okonkwo and Snezhko both won their singles matches in straight sets. Okonkwo bounced Matej Svetlicic of Western Michigan (6-3, 6-4), while Snezhko beat Notre Dame’s Conor Somers (6-2, 6-2). Kerst picked up his 20th win of his career topping Western Michigan’s Nick Schnobel (6-1, 2-6, 10-8).
Snezhko and Okonkwo dropped both of their doubles matches Friday afternoon. Lohan and Kerst bounced back in their second doubles match of the day and defeated the duo from Western Michigan in closely contested battle, 7-5.
