SUPRISE, Arizona — On Friday afternoon, Iowa men’s tennis junior Kareem Allaf competed at the Oracle ITA Fall National Championships in the Round of 16 consolation match.

Allaf squared off against the No. 19 player in the country from Notre Dame, Alex Lebedev. Allaf took Lebedev all the way to the third set before falling, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-3.

“I’m really proud of the improvements Kareem has made this fall,” said Mellecker Family Head Men’s Tennis Coach Ross Wilson. “He’s always had this level of tennis in him but his approach to his matches and pressure situations has made the difference in his results this fall.”

This will conclude the season for everyone on the roster except for Joe Tyler and Oliver Okonkwo, who are competing over the weekend in Austin, Texas at the Longhorn Invitational.
