IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa head women’s tennis coach Sasha Schmid announced Friday that Cassidy Spearman will join the Hawkeye staff this spring in a volunteer coaching position.
Spearman is a Missouri graduate and played under Schmid for two seasons. She graduated with more than 100 career wins. She was a team captain as a junior and senior, and earned Southeastern Conference academic honors in 2016 and 2017. She owned the best doubles record in the SEC in 2016, the same season she earned the SEC community service award. She comes to Iowa after previously serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Tigers.
“I could not be more excited and grateful to work alongside Sasha and Danny (Leitner) for the 2019 season,” said Spearman. “My primary goal is to help these girls and this team reach their goals and dreams for the season. I will do anything I can to help bring success to this program.”
