IOWA CITY, Iowa — A number of former University of Iowa men’s basketball players have continued their playing careers professionally. Below is an update from some of your favorite Hawkeyes.
Gabriel Olaseni (6’11”-C-91, graduated ’15, plays pro in Germany) was the major contributor in a s.Oliver Wuerzburg‘s victory against one of league’s weakest teams Crailsheim Merlins (4-16) 87-75 in the German BBL in Saturday night’s game. He had a double-double by scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in 28 minutes. s.Oliver Wuerzburg (6-7) is placed fifth in the BBL. It’s Olaseni’s first season with the team. This year, Olaseni averages 9.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 1.5 apg in 17 games.
Aaron White (6’9”-PF-92, graduated ’15, plays in Lithuania) led Zalgiris to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Dzukija (7-14) 90-75 in the Lithuanian LKL last Sunday. He recorded 12 points and controlled five rebounds. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (20-2) is placed first in the LKL. It was his team’s fifth consecutive victory in a row. White averages 9.1 ppg and 4.2 rpg.
Jarrod Uthoff (6’8”-F-93, graduated ’16, currently in Russia) led his Russian team Zenit Sankt Petersburg to a victory against the closely-ranked Cedevita (0-6) 79-75 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night. Uthoff scored 14 points and snagged four rebounds in 20 minutes. Zenit Sankt Petersburg (2-4) is placed third in group H. It was his team’s first victory after three consecutive loses. The Top 16 already ended in the Eurocup. It’s Uthoff’s first year with the team. Uthoff averages 7.2 ppg and 3.4 rpg in 16 games.
Devyn Marble (6’6”-SF-92, graduated ’14, plays pro in Italy) contributed to a Dolomiti En. TR‘s surprising victory against the second-ranked Umana Venezia (13-6) 81-77 in the Italian Serie A in Sunday night’s game. Marble recorded 11 points. Dolomiti Energia Trento (9-10) is placed 11th in the Serie A. Marble has solid stats this season, averaging 13 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.8 apg and 1.1 spg.
Peter Jok (6’6”-G-94, graduated ’17, plays in the NBA G League) helped Northern Arizona Suns win their game against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (26-13) 117-112 in the NBA G League last Tuesday. Jok scored 21 points and had three steals in 29 minutes. The Northern Arizona Suns have rather weak 8-30 record this season. It was his team’s first victory after four consecutive loses. Jok has good stats this year averaging 14.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.2 apg and 1.4 spg in 34 games.
Anthony Clemmons (6’1”-G-94, graduated ’16, currently in Kazakhstan) helped his Kazakhstan team Astana win their game against the 11th-ranked Stelmet Enea BC 84-70 in the VTB United League on Tuesday night. He recorded 14 points, four rebounds and nine assists. Clemmons averages 16.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 5.7 apg and 2.1 spg.
Adam Woodbury (7’1”-C-94, graduated ’16, plays pro in the NBA G League). He could not help the Grand Rapids Drive to beat the Greensboro Swarm. Woodbury scored eight points and corralled six rebounds in 16 minutes. His team was edged 118-117 in the NBA G League. Woodbury is averaging 5.7 ppg and 5.7 rpg in 22 games this season.
Dominique Uhl (6’9”-F-94, graduated ’18, plays in Germany) helped Team Ehingen Urspring win their game against one of league’s weakest teams White Wings 88-71 in the German ProA (second division) last Saturday. He recorded six points and four rebounds. Uhl averages 4.7 ppg and 3.2 rpg.
Experienced Cyrus Tate (6’8”-F/C-85, graduated ’09, currently in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) was not able to help PS Karlsruhe Lions (12-10) in their last game. Despite his good performance PS Karlsruhe Lions lost 72-80 on the road to the second-ranked Hamburg. Tate registered 10 points and five rebounds in only 13 minutes. Tate averages 7.7 ppg and 3.6 rpg in 20 games this season.
