Tarasenko Set for FINA World Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa sophomore Aleksey Tarasenko will compete in the 100-meter freestyle at the 2019 FINA World Championships in Gwangju, Korea.  The event will take place on July 24 at the Nambu International Aquatics Center.
 
The championships will be held from July 12-28.
 
During his freshman season as a Hawkeye, Tarasenko posted NCAA “B” qualifying times in the 50-yard freestyle (19.83), 100 free (42.93), and 200 free (1:35.07).  The Kazakhstan native was also a Big Ten bronze medalist as part of the 400-free relay and he led the team in the 200 free, while ranking second in the 100 free and third in the 50 free.
