Iowa to Host Old Capitol Tennis Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa is teaming up with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour for the second straight year and third time since 1986.
 
The Old Capitol Tennis Championships will be held from July 15-21 at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Center (HTRC) in Iowa City. The tournament starts on Monday with qualifying rounds beginning at 10 a.m. (CT). After these rounds are complete, the main draw and doubles play begin on Tuesday. The championship matches take place on Saturday for doubles and Sunday for singles. Draws will be released throughout the week on oldcapitoltennis.com.
 
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) men’s circuit offers more than 600 tournaments across more than 70 countries. Professionals from all over the world will compete against Iowa tennis student-athletes. Jason Kerst, Nikita Snezhko, Will Davies, and Morgan Lohan will begin competition on Monday in the qualifying bracket. Kareem Allaf and Oliver Okonkwo will begin singles play in the Main Draw. Davies/Okonkwo and Allaf/Snezhko will be partners in the doubles bracket.
