Hawkeyes Conclude Day 1 at Gopher Invitational

INDEPENDENCE, Minn. — The University of Iowa men’s golf team completed its first two rounds of the 2019-20 season at the par-71 Windsong Farm Golf Club in the Gopher Invitational. Senior Alex Schaake paced the Hawkeyes in both rounds, firing a two-round total of 144 (+2). Iowa sits in 13th place at 17-over-par (592).
 
Led by sophomore Gonzalo Leal Montero’s first-round 69 (-2), the Hawkeyes sat in ninth place after round one with an 18-hole total of 291 (+7).
 
Junior Joe Kim registered Iowa’s low second-round score of 71 (E). Kim and Leal Montero are tied for 37th at four-over-par. Schaake, who is tied for 28th, is the Hawkeyes’ top individual.
 
No. 20 Baylor (-8) and No. 14 Texas A&M (-5) are in first and second place.
