Van Heuvelen Treadwell and Mannix Start Strong in Tulsa

TULSA, OKLA. – University of Iowa senior Elise van Heuvelen Treadwell and sophomore Samantha Mannix had success winning three of their four singles matches at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In the first round both Hawkeyes were victorious in straight sets. Van Heuvelen Treadwell defeated Kennedy Bridgforth from Texas Tech 6-4, 6-3. Mannix won 6-0, 6-4 against Madeline Meredith from Auburn.

In the second round van Heuvelen Treadwell bested Nika Zupancic from Washington 6-1, 6-3. In a tough battle against the No. 1 seed and ITA ranked No. 104 Jessica Livianu from Saint John’s, Mannix lost 7-6, 6-3.   

“I thought it was a really good day overall, they both competed really well and played some high-level tennis,” said assistant coach Daniel Leitner. “I am excited for Elise to get another opportunity for a great match tomorrow”.  

The Hawkeyes continue action Sunday at 8 a.m. (CT).
