Van Heuvelen Treadwell Falls in Quarterfinals at ITA Regionals

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Iowa senior Elise van Heuvelen Treadwell fell in quarterfinals of the ITA Central Regional Championships.

After a clean sweep in the round of 16 that saw Iowa’s three-time All-Big Ten honoree defeat Camila Romero from Oklahoma in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, van Heuvelen Treadwell dropped a closely contested match to Dariya Detkovskaya from Oklahoma State, 6-3, 7-5.

“Elise made progress in this tournament and she knows her plan going forward,” said head coach Sasha Schmid. “She is committed to staying the course, and it will be fun to see her grow from match to match this season.”

In extra matches, junior Ashleigh Jacobs beat Ioana Gheorghita from Kansas State, 6-4, 6-0. Junior Danielle Bauers defeated Karen Alvarez from Iowa State, 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Michelle Bacalla lost to Ines Mesquita from Kansas State, 6-4, 6-0. Junior Danielle Burich lost to Christin Hsieh from Iowa State, 6-4, 6-1. Freshman Erika Dodridge lost to Margarita Timakova from Iowa State, 6-3, 6-1.
