Iowa Finishes Day One of Battle at the Beach

SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished day one of the Battle at the Beach in Mexico on Friday. The Hawkeyes finished sit in 15th with an 18-hole total of 312 (+24).

No. 18 Louisiana State is leading the tournament with a score of 293 (+5). Texas A&M finished second with with a score of 296 (+8) followed by No. 11 Vanderbilt with 298 (+10).

Freshman Lea Zeitler led the Hawkeyes in the first round. Zeitler had an 18-hole score of 75 (+3), tying for 22nd. She collected two birdies. Freshman Jacque Galloway tied for 31st with a round-one score of 76 (+4). Galloway carded three birdies.

Sophomore Manuela Lizarazu finished round one tied for 67th with a score of 80 (+8). Lizarazu had three birdies. Sophomore Dana Lerner is tied 74th with an 18-hole score of 81 (+9). Senior Sarah Overton carded a round-one total of 84 (+12). Overton is tied 79th.
