IOWA CITY, Iowa — Freshman Lea Zeitler was named the Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week after carding a career-best four-under-par 215 at the Allstate Sugar Bowl earlier this week. It is her second career weekly honor, earning her first in the fall.
Zeitler, the Fiecht/Meiming Tyrol, Austria, native fired three straight under-par rounds to tie for career-best eighth place. She started the tournament with back-to-back 72s (-1), and finished the tournament with a 71 (-2) in her final round to secure her first career top-10 finish. Zeitler finished only three shots off the lead and sank 13 birdies for the second most among the 84 participants.
The Hawkeyes continue their spring season, Feb 23-24, at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Arizona.
