Hawkeyes Complete Big Five Meet

TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team finished the Big Five meet in fourth with a 195.725 on Friday night in Toledo, Ohio.

Nebraska (196.750), Ohio State (196.475), Illinois (196.250) went 1-2-3, followed by the Hawkeyes and Rutgers (193.625).

VAULT
Iowa opened with a 48.975 on vault. Junior Erin Castle kicked off the event with a 9.675 for a season-debut performance on vault. Sophomore Bridget Killian led Iowa with a 9.875, recording a career-high and tying for fifth in the event title.

BARS
Iowa moved onto bars for the second rotation, tallying a 48.675. Castle tabbed a 9.825, placing eighth, and a sophomore Mackenzie Vance earned a 9.800.  

BEAM
The Hawkeyes were led by Killian with a 9.800 on the balance beam (48.800) followed by a pair of 9.775s from Castle and Vance. Killian tied for 10th place in the event, while Castle and Vance tied for 12th.

FLOOR
The GymHawks recorded their highest score of the night, and a season high score on the final rotation with a 49.275 on floor. Senior Clair Kaji and sophomore Lauren Guerin led Iowa with a pair of 9.875s, tying for fourth in the event.

ALL-AROUND
Junior Erin Castle completed her first career all-around with a 39.100.
