Gymhawks Defeat Iowa State in Season High Efforts

AMES, Iowa –- The No. 30 University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team defeated in-state rival Iowa State in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series, 196.425-196.225, on Friday night.
The Hawkeyes set season-high marks on team score, uneven bars and floor. Three Hawkeyes tied for the event title on bars.

BARS
The GymHawks started the meet on uneven bars with a strong team score of 49.200, earning themselves a season high score. Three Gymhawks — Sophomore Alex Greenwald, freshman Allyson Steffensmeir, and senior Clair Kaji tied to win the event with scores of 9.875s.

VAULT
Iowa collected a score of 48.925 on vault. The GymHawks were led by sophomore Lauren Guerin who recorded a solid 9.850, followed by a pair of 9.800s from freshmen Steffensmeir and Ariana Agrapides.

FLOOR
The GymHawks scored a strong team score of 49.300 on floor, recording another season high. Gurein and Agrapides led the GymHawks with a pair of 9.900s, earning Agrapides a career high. Allie Gilchrist followed up with a 9.850 and a triplet set of 9.825s from Greenwald, Castle, and Killian.
BEAM
Iowa earned a team score of 49.125 on beam to end the night. The GymHawks were led by Mackenzie Vance who finished the night strong with a 9.850 on beam.
