IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Kathleen Doyle was selected by the Indiana Fever with the 14th overall pick in the WNBA Draft on Friday.
Doyle is the 14th Hawkeye drafted into the WNBA and the second in as many years. Megan Gustafson was the 17th overall pick last season.
A native of LaGrange Park, Illinois, Doyle ended her collegiate career ranked second all-time in assists (706) and 13th in scoring (1,537).
Doyle’s senior season was highlighted by ranking in the top-50 nationally in five statistical categories, including sixth in the nation in total assists (189), seventh in assists per game (6.3), 19th in free throws made (147), 37th in total points (544), and 49th in points per game (18.1).
Doyle was named to three All-America teams, including Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, Associated Press (third team), and United States Basketball Writers Association (third team).
“I am so happy for Kathleen (Doyle) to have this opportunity,” said Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder. “Being close to home is nice, and it’s so exciting to be the 14th pick overall. High praise for Kathleen!”
