IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa field hockey team will play six regular-season games at Grant Field during the 2021 spring season, the Big Ten Conference announced Tuesday.
The 14-game schedule features six games against NCAA Tournament teams from last season: Michigan on March 12 and 14, Maryland on April 2 and 4, and Northwestern on April 15 and 17. Northwestern is the only tournament team that the Hawkeyes will play on the road.
The season will begin with the first two weekends of play in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on a neutral pitch. The Hawkeyes open the season with Indiana (Feb. 27) and Penn State (Feb. 28), followed by Rutgers (March 7) and Penn State (March 7).
Iowa’s six-game home slate features Michigan on March 12 and 13, Michigan State on March 26 and 28, and Maryland on April 2 and 4.
Postseason play begins with the Big Ten Tournament on April 20-24, hosted by the Hawkeyes in Iowa City, Iowa.
