IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa diving team travels to West Lafayette, Indiana, to compete in the Big Ten Diving Championships from Thursday through Saturday at the Doris Z. Holloway Pool at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
The Hawkeyes will send senior Jonatan Posligua, sophomore Michael Huebner, and freshmen Mike Konle and Kasijaden Natarajan. The trio will compete on 1-meter on Thursday, 3-meter on Friday and platform on Saturday.
Junior Sam Tamborski and freshman Sarah Ballard will represent the Iowa women, competing on the 3-meter on Thursday, platform on Friday, and 1-meter on Saturday.
Prelims begin at 11:20 p.m. (CT) and finals start at 5:35 p.m. each day.
Tamborski, an All-American off the 3-meter as a sophomore, was an “A” finalist off the 3-meter at last season’s Big Ten Championships. She placed seventh with a score of 294.40. This season the Colorado native has posted NCAA Zone diving standards off the 1-meter and 3-meter.
Posligua scored at the 2020 Big Ten Championships, placing 19th off the platform with a 273.40. This season, the Ecuador native has posted NCAA Zone Diving standards off the 1-meter and platform and he leads the team on all three boards.
Ballard has posted NCAA Zone Diving standards on two boards — the 1-meter and 3-meter — this season. She is leading the team off the 1-meter with a 294.15.
Huebner will be making his second Big Ten Championships appearance, while Ballard, Konle, and Natarajan will be making their championships debut.
