Hawkeyes Propelled By Second Round in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The University of Iowa women’s golf team sits in second place at the Chattanooga Classic at Black Creek Club after two rounds.

The 36-hole team total of 594 (+18) was highlighted by the second round score of 285 (-3) which is the second lowest Iowa single round team score this season. 285 is the lowest single round team total in this tournament, with the next closest being Chattanooga’s second-round 293. The Hawkeyes are four shots behind leaders East Tennessee State (590, +14) heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Three Hawkeyes rank in the top 10 of the tournament individual leaderboard. Sophomore Morgan Goldstein is in third (142, -2), freshman Klara Wildhaber is in fourth (146, +2), and sophomore Jacque Galloway is tied for eighth (149, +5). Goldstein and Wildhaber both shot a career low 69 in the second round, and they are tied atop the leaderboard for “Par 4 Scoring”, averaging a 3.95. As a team, Iowa has shot the best on Par 4s in the tournament, averaging 4.16, and they have 22 birdies so far.

Junior Manuela Lizarazu is tied for 42nd after shooting a 157 (+13), and sophomore Lea Zeitler sits in a tie for 52nd after her 161 (+17) in the first two rounds.

The Hawkeyes continue the final round of the Chattanooga Classic on Tuesday, starting at 7 a.m. (CT).
