IOWA CITY, Iowa – Two University of Iowa field hockey student-athletes — junior Lokke Stribos and sophomore Esme Gibson — were named to the All-Big Ten Tournament Team, the league office announced Saturday afternoon.
Gibson’s honor is the first of her career, while Stribos was named to the all-tournament team after 2018 Big Ten Tournament.
“Lokke and Esme had outstanding performances this week,” head coach Lisa Cellucci said. “They have been solid all year long in our midfield and defense and were keys to our team’s success. I am excited they are being recognized on the all-tournament team.”
In Iowa’s quarterfinal match against Maryland, Gibson pushed the pace of the game for the Hawkeyes, leading them to a 2-0 victory over the Terrapins and registering Iowa’s eighth shutout of the season. Iowa led the match in shots (6) and shots on goal (5).
This season for the Hawkeyes, Stribos led Iowa’s solid defense while also assisting offensively when needed. Stribos tallied one goal off a corner to lead them in their win over Rutgers early in the season on March 5 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
