VERONA, Wis. – University of Iowa freshman Paula Miranda is tied for 10th at the Badger Invitational heading into Tuesday’s final round at the University Ridge Golf Course.
Miranda had five pars to start the second round and was one-over through nine holes before finishing with a seven-over par 79. The Puebla, Mexico, native is five shots off the lead with a two-over par 146 (67-74), while four players share the top spot at -3.
The Hawkeyes are ninth in the team standings after shooting a 310 (+22). Iowa has a 607 through 36 holes, which is eight shots out of sixth place. Wisconsin leads the field with a 579.
“We struggled today across the team, but each individual player had some good takeaways,” said head coach Megan Menzel. “We put in some work after the round today and look forward to getting some good momentum going into tomorrow morning.”
Junior Morgan Goldstein matched her first-round total, finishing with a five-over par 77 on Tuesday. The Las Vegas native had back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14 to get to three-over before finishing with a 154 (79-79) to tie for 41st.
Senior Dana Lerner is tied with Goldstein after shooting an 80 during the second round. Lerner played the final 10 holes at two over and she has a two-round total of 154 (74-80).
Sophomore Klara Wildhaber had the best round of the day for the Hawkeyes, shooting a three-over par 75. The Switzerland native had three birdies and 10 pars during the round and she is tied for 51st with a 156 (81-75).
Junior Lea Zeitler is tied for 59th with a 158 (79-79), while junior Lilly Gentzkow, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 66th with a 162 (80-82).
The Hawkeyes will close out the Badger Invitational on Tuesday, beginning with a 9 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.
