IOWA CITY, Iowa — Sophomore Alexa Noel and Samantha Mannix will travel to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, to compete in the ITA All-American Championships Wednesday through Sunday. The tournament, which will be held at the LTP Tennis Club, features the nation’s top NCAA Division I student-athletes.
“It’s exciting to get back to competition,” said Assistant Coach Danny Leitner. “Especially with a good draw with high-quality players. It will be a great test for both, and an accomplishment to qualify for the tournament and even be in the draw. This is an opportunity to improve and see how far we can go.”
Noel is an automatic qualifier in the singles main draw. Noel and Mannix got into the doubles main draw as a result of being on the qualifying list. Both Noel (singles) and Noel/Mannix (doubles) will begin play on Wednesday.
“We are both excited to compete again together,” Mannix said. “We have not competed together since April at Big Ten’s; it’s been a while. I went to All-American’s two years ago and competed in doubles and singles, so this is a big opportunity.”
