IOWA CITY, Iowa — The ITA Central Regional Championships will take place at the Hawkeye Tennis Recreation Complex in Iowa City beginning Wednesday at 8 a.m. and going through Monday, Oct. 25. Admission is free to the public.
“Regionals is a huge tournament,” said head coach Sasha Schmid. “I am proud of our entire athletic staff for putting so much work into it. I appreciate the effort people are putting into the event. It’s great to have the ability to play on our own home courts with everyone playing. Regionals is going to bring out the top players in our region, so it’s a high-level tournament.”
Student-athletes from 27 different schools in the region, including Iowa, will be participating in the singles and doubles event. A total of 96 qualifiers will compete in the singles main draw.
“I’m very excited to have regionals here,” said senior Samantha Mannix. “It’s a huge tournament. It’s nice to have it on our home courts, use our own locker rooms, and sleep in our own beds. It is going to be exciting to see everyone compete at the same place.”
The single elimination bracket is still unreleased. For all information regarding the tournament, visit: https://hawkeyesports.com/ita-central-regional-championship/ to find links to live stats, ITA homepage, parking information, and Iowa Tennis social media.
