Iowa Earns Top Seed in B1G Tournament

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 1-ranked University of Iowa field hockey team is the No. 1 seed in the 2021 Big Ten Tournament, it was announced Sunday by the Big Ten office.  The Hawkeyes receive a quarterfinal bye and move on to Friday’s semifinals.

Iowa will face the winner of the game between No. 4 seed Michigan and No. 5 seed Northwestern on Friday at 1 p.m. (CT) at Bauer Track/Field Hockey Complex in Piscataway, New Jersey.  The game will be televised live on BTN.

The Hawkeyes earned the top seed after going 7-1 during Big Ten play during the regular season en route to the outright title – the first since 1999.  Iowa’s Big Ten title is its 16th in program history.

Iowa is 16-1 overall heading into the postseason.
