Hawkeyes Close Out Tulane Classic, Miranda Finishes Top 30

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Iowa women’s golf team closed out the Tulane Classic with a final round 318 (+30) to finish 13th in the team standings. The Hawkeyes finished with a 54-hole total of 952 (328-306-318).

Iowa was led by freshman Paula Miranda, who recorded a top 30 finish by tying for 30th place. The Mexico native fired a final round 77, the team’s best round of the day. Miranda moved up four spots with two birdies and nine pars to finish with a 234 (81-76-77) total.

Senior Manuela Lizarazu finished tied for 43rd place after shooting a final round 79 (+7). Lizarazu had one birdie and 12 pars to finish with a 237 (81-77-79) total over 54 holes.

North Texas finished on top of the field with a 584 following with a third round of 311 (+23). The Mean Green’s Patricia Sinolungan and Michigan’s Ashley Lau shared the medalist honors with a 221 total.

OF NOTE…
– Iowa finished eighth overall on Par 4 (4.47) and Par 5 holes (5.27).
– Lizarazu finished 29th in the field in birdies with six.
– Miranda finished third individually in average score of Par 4s (4.17).
– Iowa finished ahead of fellow Big Ten foe, Rutgers, who tied for 14th and was three shots back of Nebraska, who placed 11th with a 949.

The Hawkeyes will travel to Peoria, Arizona, to compete at the Westbrook Spring Invitational on Feb. 27-28.
