First Varsity Four Earns Big Ten Honor

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa rowing team’s first varsity four was named the Big Ten Boat of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the Big Ten office. It is the second straight week the Hawkeyes have earned the weekly honor.

The boat was recognized after winning the Grand Final at the Sunshine State Invitational, finishing with a time of 7:20.66 – more than six seconds ahead of second-place Kansas State. The competition was held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.

The first varsity four included Livvy Osgood, Jaecee Hall, Heidi Hines, Laura Bates and Cara Burns (coxswain).

The weekly honor is the second straight and the 14th all-time. It is the third time in program history (2003, 2018, 2021) the Hawkeyes have earned multiple Big Ten weekly awards in a single season.

Iowa returns to action April 9, traveling to Las Vegas for the Pac 12 Invitational.
