SAN DIEGO, Calif. — University of Iowa women’s tennis incoming recruit Daianne Hayashida recorded a pair of victories this week in the qualifying draw of the International Tennis Federation’s summer circuit tournament in San Diego.
Hayashida, a native of Peru, cruised over Serbia’s Leontina Stojanovic in straight sets in Round One (6-1, 6-0) before edging California native and Wake Forest All-American Carolyn Campana (7-6, 5-7, 10-8) in Round Two.
Hayashida advances to the Main Draw and will next face Washington native and Cal-Berkeley student-athlete Katja Wiersholm in the first round.
