IOWA CITY, Iowa – Two University of Iowa women’s divers – sophomore Claire Hartley and freshman Makayla Hughbanks – have been named second-team College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-Americans, it was announced Wednesday.
To earn second-team honors, individuals must have earned a 3.50 grade point average and achieved a “B” time standard for the national championship or participated at the diving zone qualification meet.
Hartley, a sophomore from Omaha, Nebraska, posted career-bests off the 1-meter (251.03) and 3-meter (267.75) during the 2021-22 season. She scored off the platform at the Big Ten Championships.
Hughbanks, a freshman from Bettendorf, Iowa, was third on the team off the 1-meter (277.20) and fourth on 3-meter (266.18) during her first season as a Hawkeye. She posted NCAA Zone Diving standards off the 1-meter.
Hartley is majoring in communications studies, while Hughbanks’ major is undeclared. The honor is the first of both student-athlete’s careers.
Iowa was also recognized as a team, earning CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors during both the fall and spring semesters.
