3 Hawkeyes Selected to NFHCA Division I Senior Game

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three University of Iowa field hockey seniors – Grace McGuire, Anthe Nijziel and Lokke Stribos – have been selected to the 2022 Victory Sports Tour/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior Team, it was announced Thursday by the NFHCA.

Iowa is the only team in the nation with three Senior Team selections.

McGuire, a goalkeeper from St. Louis, Missouri, is 10-5 with a 1.08 goals against average in 2022. She has made a career-high 52 saves, including two games with 10+ saves, and has posted four shutouts. The 2021 second-team All-American has won 39 games and posted 22 shutouts during her Hawkeye career.

Nijziel, a defender from Eindhoven, Netherlands, has started all 15 games this season and all 96 games in her Iowa career. This season, Nijziel has tied career highs in goals (6) and assists (4), while anchoring an Iowa defense that has posted five shutouts.

Stribos, a defender from Brussels, Belgium, has started 15 games this season and all 96 games of her Hawkeye career. She has scored two goals and tallied four assists in 2022, while being a key part of an Iowa defensive unit that has allowed just 16 goals in 15 games.

The Division I Senior Game will take place on Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. (CT) in Storrs, Connecticut, in conjunction with the NCAA Championships, which will be held at the University of Connecticut.

The eighth-ranked Hawkeyes return to action Sunday, traveling to Evanston, Illinois, to face No. 6 Michigan in a neutral site, nonconference contest. The game will begin at 11:30 a.m. (CT) from Northwestern’s Lakeside Field.
