Iowa Hosts Minnesota for Two Day Event

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa rowing team hosts Minnesota on Friday and Saturday for its only scheduled home event of the 2022-23 season.

The Hawkeyes will compete in two separate time-trial, 3.5-kilometer races on the Iowa River at 4 p.m. (CT) on Friday. Saturday will follow at 9 a.m. with multiple flights of 1-kilometer, head-to-head racing on a course designed to pass by the university’s Iowa Memorial Union building to Park Road.

Iowa is also hosting a joint team dinner with the Golden Gophers, where they will hear from the University of Iowa’s Director of Sports Psychology Dr. Espe-Pfeifer’s presentation on student-athlete mental health.

The Hawkeyes will return to action for the Princeton Chase on Nov. 6 in Princeton, New Jersey for its last races of the fall season.

QUOTING HEAD COACH JEFF GARBUTT
“This weekend will be another great test for our team. With the competition in the Big Ten each year, it is great to be able to come together in the fall and see how much we have progressed over the summer. We are excited to host Minnesota and have them join us for dinner. It should be an amazing evening getting to know our opponents from the North.”
