Rydberg, Otto Earn B1G Postseason Honors

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Senior Hailey Rydberg of the Iowa women’s soccer team was named Third Team All-Big Ten the conference office announced Thursday. Sophomore Elle Otto was Iowa’s recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

Rydberg started and played in all 18 contests and was tied for a team-high five goals this season. She logged 1,492 minutes for the Hawkeyes in 2022, recording a team-high 14 offensive points boosted by four assists on the year. Rydberg also led Iowa with 63 shots and 23 shots on goal. She was one of seven Hawkeyes to play the entirety of at least one contest this season, doing so on six occasions.

Rydberg earned third team Big Ten honors last year and was an All-Big Ten Tournament Team selection in 2020. She has twice earned conference all-academic honors and was a United Soccer Coaches third-team regional selection last season.

Otto, who transferred from Mississippi State this season, started 16 of 17 games played and logged a career-high 1,107 minutes for Iowa. To earn the sportsmanship honor, student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
