Henderson Earns Big Ten Co-Event Specialist of the Week

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa senior JerQuavia Henderson has been named the Big Ten Co-Event Specialist of the Week, it was announced Wednesday by the league office. She shares the award with Ella Hodges of Ohio State. The honor is Henderson’s first of the season and the second of her career.

The Peoria, Illinois, native earned the distinction after posting a 9.925 on floor to take first place against Nebraska on Feb. 6. She has scored a 9.925 twice this season, and is tied for the highest floor score in program history with a 9.975, which she has scored once this season, and four times in her career. Henderson also tied for first place on vault after scoring a 9.850 and tied for fourth place overall on beam after scoring a 9.875 against Nebraska.

This marked her third 9.900 or higher on Beam. She is ranked fifth overall in the conference and tied for 17th nationally on the event with an average score of 9.913.

Henderson is the third Hawkeye in a row to earn Big Ten weekly honors this season. Linda Zivat was named Big Ten Tri-Specialist of the Week on Feb. 1, and Adeline Kenlin was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 24.

The 17th-ranked University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team hosts Michigan State in their first-ever meet inside Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa on Saturday, February 11. The meet is set to start at 5 p.m. (CT) and fans are encouraged to wear black.
